Summer with Books & Batter takes place at the SUNY Adirondack Culinary Arts Center/Seasoned restaurant at 14 Hudson Ave., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
In this hands-on course, students will develop essential kitchen skills, then put them to the test rolling pasta, preparing quick breads, creating frozen mousses and decorating cupcakes. Emphasis will also be placed on the importance of kitchen safety and sanitation practices. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of baking techniques, sauce making and decoration, with practical experience in a range of culinary areas.
Recipes will be chosen from youth-themed books: “Harry Potter,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” “Moose on the Loose” and the Max & Ruby story “Bunny Cakes.” There will be a brief discussion about the books and the food related to them. Students will not be asked to read books in advance.
