    Instructor: Aaron Coulson, ACEntertainment

    Learn essential ASL vocabulary and dig deeply into proper ASL grammar and the vibrancy of the Deaf community. Use ASL to ask and answer questions about your likes, dislikes and feelings, introduce yourself and your background, describe your family by name and age, and engage in basic introductory conversations. Lessons in this course build on each other in a way that allows students to see immediate progress.

    This course is designed for beginners or those seeking to improve their technique or ASL grammar and broaden their vocabulary. Knowledge of ASL may be helpful for those in health-related or educational fields, and may assist with communicating with individuals with autism, speech delays or other intellectual disabilities. You’ll learn from handouts, PowerPoints, group work, deaf individuals in the community and interactive activities.

    The instructor is a licensed sign language interpreter, past resident choreographer at Sign Design Theatre Company and vocal interpreter for New York Deaf Theatre. He has taught many language and Deaf culture classes across the states.

Lessons in this course build on each other in a way that allows students to see immediate progress. This course is designed for students with basic ASL knowledge or those seeking to improve on their technique and ASL grammar, and broaden their vocabulary. This is especially helpful for those in health-related or educational fields, and will assist in communicating with the deaf, as well as those with autism, speech delays or other mental disabilities. You’ll learn from handouts, PowerPoints, group work, deaf individuals in the community and interactive activities.

    With a special focus on interpreting in educational settings, this class expands the knowledge of mapping as well as shape, placement and movement of the hands, facial expressions and body movements, all of which play important parts in conveying information. Students continue to broaden their vocabulary and improve their grammar all while engaging in a deeper study into the vibrancy of the Deaf community. Lessons in this course build on each other in a way that allows students to see immediate progress.

    American Sign Language is especially helpful for those in health-related or educational fields, and will assist in communicating with the deaf, as well as those with autism, speech delays or other communication impairments. You’ll learn from handouts, PowerPoints, group work, deaf individuals in the community and interactive activities.
